This formula has been incredibly successful – with over 50 million users, Tinder has become a serious contender in the online dating world.

Until recently, one of the biggest draws to Tinder was that it was completely free. However, its most recent update included features (such as the ability to view profiles of individuals who aren’t in your local area or undo an accidental swipe) that can only be accessed by a monthly subscription fee.

Badoo has places for users to list their interests and demographic information, as well as a space on their profile dedicated to awards that can be won by being active on the app

Now Tinder also limits the previously unlimited number of right swipes that you can make in a set time period unless you pay the monthly fee.

Even for devoted Tinder users, this update has been a bit of a disillusionment and many are now looking for an app to take its place. We spent some time doing some research on the best free alternatives to Tinder currently on the market – the classics, the copy-cats and the creative – because at some point, we’re all going to run out of right swipes and need another app to turn to!

PROJECT TITLE: Education for Fosterparents Project description This partnership aims to improve training available to foster parents in four countries, enabling them to better meet the needs of foster children. Learners (=foster parents and staff) will benefit from knowledge and information transfer as each partner organisation brings at least one specialised training programme to the partnership (see a to c below). Specific attention will be given to a) ’emergency’ fostering (foster parents and child have not met previously)b) children returning to their birth parents (support for foster parents) and c) frequency and design of contact with birth parents, age of child in relation to this. Then learners and staff will have the opportunity to observe trainings and discuss their experience in focus meetings. Electronic meeting summaries will be shared with all learners and an e-learning tool (e.g. film) will be created and made available to professionals and foster carers in the field. Ex-Match Group Executive Raises $3.5 million to Launch New Video-first Dating App

VANCOUVER, BC , /PRNewswire/ — Snack, a recently launched video-first dating app, announced today a Pre-Seed investment of $3.5 million U.S. The app was founded by Kimberly Kaplan , who was part of the executive team at Plentyoffish, which sold to Match Group in 2015 for $575 million .

Snack is set to be a category disruptor with its video-first format that combines the matching algorithms of a dating platform like Tinder with the ability to flirt-stream your life in real time like with Instagram.

The highly competitive funding round is co-led by Kindred Ventures and Coelius Capital, with participation from Golden Ventures, Garage Capital, Panache Ventures and N49P Ventures.

Kanyi Maqubela , managing partner at Kindred Ventures, said of the investment, “It’s rare to see a platform inflection point, a generational behavior change, and a formidable founder all in one. This was a no-brainer opportunity to support an evolution in video communication.”

Founder of Coelius Capital, Zach Coelius said, “Having watched Kim in action for over a decade now, this investment was an instant yes. What’s even more exciting is that now that I’ve seen the product, I can say it is incredibly clear that video is the future of dating. It is incredibly powerful.”

Snack was inspired by the evolution across social media to a video-first format where selfies are out and a more authentic format prevails.

“Tinder is your parents’ dating app,” said Kaplan, “Gen Z will use it to match and then immediately migrate onto other social platforms where they can engage in each other’s content without the pressure of starting a conversation.
